VACUUM CLEANERS

These are two typical vacuum cleaner characteristics that we can sum up in this way:
Suction vacuum is the capacity to lift the material to be removed. The greater the value, the greater the lifting capacity.

The air flow rate is the capacity to convey the lifted material and, when there is a lot of dust, to keep it suspended in the tubes.
The correct combination of the two values therefore allows the material to be lifted and, at the same time, conveyed towards a collection container.

Some models are designed to remove solids and liquids simultaneously. This is done by directing the air flow (which conveys the solids and liquids) not directly onto the filter but onto a dynamic (cyclone) separator. In this way, the heaviest material is collected at the bottom of the container (and liquids can be separated from solids via grilles), while the air with the lighter particles is filtered and sent back into the environment.
When removing liquids with a vacuum cleaner, or for liquids with no dynamic separation, the paper/fabric filter must be removed.

We're speaking about the power supply, of course. If you can choose, the vacuum cleaners with a single-phase power supply are better for intermittent, limited use. Those with a three-phase supply are more suitable for prolonged (or even continuous) applications.

But it's essential to remember that only the three-phase vacuum cleaners offer those higher power levels often necessary in industrial-type applications.

The suction material container and filtering chamber can be made of stainless steel, or painted.
In some cases, for production or performance requirements (see for example the ATEX environments), stainless steel is used.

In most cases, the lower cost of the product, plus the easier cleaning and the necessary functional characteristics, make the use of painted material more than enough. If necessary however, the stainless steel version can always be requested.

Some industrial vacuum cleaners can be used by 2 operators simultaneously, if the appropriate accessories are installed.
This is possible with the more powerful models, where the air flow is right for this type of necessity (roughly from 2.9 - 3 Kw upwards). Of course, the distances over which you can work have to be verified case by case.

It might be necessary to use the vacuum cleaner in areas where there are potentially explosive dusts or gases (these environments are usually called ATEX).

Depending on the chances of these conditions arising, these areas are classified (by the end customer) according to directive 94/9/EC and 99/92/EC, into zones. The zone number identifies the type of area. The equipment used in these areas must therefore meet precise manufacturing criteria. In the case of Fimap, the available model is designed for zone 22 (dust with low risk probability).

The models are fitted as standard with class L filters.

For increased filtering needs (a greater capacity to hold back dust that passes through the filter), there are class M filters. For specific suction operations such as fine dust or bacterial charges, class H (Hepa) filters are available. These filters can't be used by themselves - they must be preceded by filters of a lower category (L or H). Additional filters (nylon, TNT or disposable paper bags) are also available for specific requirements.

A special model - three-phase, of course - has been developed for this precise application. It can work continuously because the filter cleaning operation is carried out via air flow reversal and the mechanical action of a hammer activated by the air flow.

For less extreme applications, some models (SEA) have an automatic electric filter shaker.

Noise is now an unwelcome guest even in industrial environments. All the precautions have consequently been adopted in order to reduce it: from the shape and air flow in the machine heads, to the silencers fitted to the turbines (both on the discharge and the pressure limiting valve).

Special mention must be made of the FA15 Silenzio vacuum cleaner with its 53 dB (A), and the models INV 2.60 SE/SEA and INV3.100 SE/SEA which have channelled suction and discharge tubes to considerably reduce noise emissions.
The former allows you to carry out cleaning operations even in environments where the maximum discretion is necessary.
